Planning approval and building regulations granted fora new elderly care village for the Jewish Morris Feinmann Trust in the heart of Didsbury, Manchester. Designed in 2013/14 whilst at Pozzoni LLP and completed in 2018. New Build. Design and Build Contract. Contract Value £12 million. The care centre is open to the public and provides a vibrant hub for community events, with facilities including an exercise studio, hair salon, a bistro serving fresh kosher food, therapy room, function rooms, library, synagogue and gardens, including a roof garden. The 4 storey complex is dementia friendly and includes independent living apartments and specialist households providing 24-hour nursing and dementia care. Support is also available on a daily basis through the ‘day club’ which specialises in supporting people with dementia to give carers a break and includes use of village centre amenities such as the bistro and exercise studio. Specific cultural requirements, such as separate milk and meat kitchens, were incorporated into the design and required close consultation with the community and its leaders.
