Muse Bar & Restaurant, Uppermill, Saddleworth
Client: New Muse Ltd
Role: Architect Work Stages: RIBA 1 - 6 Contractor: THWG Ltd Completion: Summer 2016 |
Planning permission and building regulations granted for the redevelopment and extension of the vacated former Indian restaurant premises adjacent to the existing Muse Café on the High Street in Uppermill to produce a vibrant and up-market restaurant and bar in the heart of Saddleworth.
Working closely with the client and contractor an elegant and industrial aesthetic was developed merging soft timber and rich leather upholstery with exposed red brick and structural steel work. Load bearing internal walls which divided the building into cellular rooms were removed to create an open plan space, and a new stone extension accommodates a long classical bar, with additional office, and WC facilities. The provision of a contemporary glazed terrace room provides a relaxed dining experience throughout the year. In summer the retractable canopy and bi-folding glazed doors seamlessly disappear creating a large al fresco Mediterranean style courtyard dining and drinking experience in the centre of Uppermill. |
