Planning permission and building regulation approved for a pair of stone detached dwellings on the footprint of existing barns in Denshaw, Saddleworth. The clients brief was for a large traditional 2 storey dwelling and a slightly smaller single storey dwelling with accommodation in the roof space.
Large expanses of glazing to the external elevations, roof lights, glazed lanterns, balconies and internal double height spaces seek to capitalise on views out over the valley and increase the amount of natural daylight entering the properties. Contemporary open plan living spaces contained by traditional stone exteriors, and softened by oak framed sections of the scheme create a modern rustic aesthetic whilst remaining respectful to the existing farm cluster that these buildings sit within. |
